There’s no reservation to say that PSALM has been effectively producing dynamic servant leaders propagating all over the country and in some parts of the globe. Probably no PSALMista has ever joined the training without stepping into our home base in Cebu City. In the hustle and bustle of the Queen City of the South, PSALM Base is peacefully located at VH Garces Street, Poblacion, Talisay City, Cebu, Philippines. Though it has been serving as the headquarters of the movement, the Base is a home to every professing PSALMist. It is a blest abode wherein faith is strengthened, skills are developed, friendships are built, life-changing experiences are made, and memories are treasured.
Going back to history, its lot was bought around 1977, eventually materialized and became the headquarters and development center of the movement from that time on. According to Mr. Christer Luchavez, National Director of PSALM, its acquisition was in itself significant because it was during that time that people sacrificially poured in their investments in support of the vision of having a training centre for campus leaders. The Base has become a witness of thousands upon thousands of transformed lives who were aggressively reached out, intentionally discipled and effectively trained as servant leaders. It stood as a testament of the mountain-top and valley-low journey of the ministry for the past five decades.
Over the years, the Base is one main training venue of PSALM Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) especially during National PLTI since it has two dormitories that can accommodate 150 people. There is no problem in providing exclusive rooms for the workers because it has two staff rooms that can cater 14 persons per room. Welcoming the main entrance is a spacious social hall perfect for prayer gatherings, worship hour, and other social activities with a seating capacity of 200 individuals. Clean and comfortable kitchen with a commodious dining hall for 200 people is definitely available to feed hungry stomachs. In need of a conference room? No problem! The Base has one with an air conditioning unit. A huge heart-shaped pool can also be enjoyed, but is yet under renovation, as well as its standard basketball court and a lawn.
Other institutions and individuals can absolutely rent the place for an affordable charges on events like anniversaries, weddings, team buildings, retreats, sports activities, and the like provided that they will abide to the policies of the Base (e.g. No smoking and no liquor policy). On the other hand, PSALMistas are very welcome to stay at the Base in the lowest amount of payment. The exclusive use of the facilities and its rates will be published soon. Meanwhile, in light of its recent improvements, our beloved PSALM Base still needs more rebuilding and renovating. “There were still many things that are still needed to do to make it more convenient and homey,” said Mr. Luchavez.
