The Philippine Student Alliance Lay Movement, Inc. popularly known as PSALM evolved from a College Youth Center (CYC) which was established on August 8, 1969 in Zamboanga City. It was founded to cater the growing spiritual needs of college students and out of school youth.

From its inception, its main thrust is to reach out the “Sleeping Giant” – the Student World – through the saving Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, disciple and build leaders who will continue the gigantic task of making Christ known among the nations.
