What is PSALM?

The Philippine Student Alliance Lay Movement, Inc. popularly known as PSALM evolved from a College Youth Center (CYC) which was established on August 8, 1969 in Zamboanga City. It was founded to cater the growing spiritual needs of college students and out of school youth. From its inception, its main thrust is to reach out the “Sleeping Giant” – the Student World – through the saving Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, disciple and build leaders who will continue the gigantic task of making Christ known among the nations.

From then on, it never monopolizes the mandate of the Lord in Matthew 28:19-20. PSALM understands clearly that the mandate was worldwide and it demands a worldwide response. Thus, we consider it a privilege and honor to be part of the many campus ministries and movements in the Philippines and the world.

PSALM owes its continuous existence from the Lord and from mission-minded Christians who have decided to stand up and make a difference right where they are.

Today, it expands its operations and continually develops its system to reach out to the broadest scope possible bringing the greatest message of all times to the campuses, churches, communities, and workplaces.

What we value:

God’s Kingdom Agenda: Central to our message is God’s Kingdom Agenda: The fulfillment of the Great Commission, which takes two stages: (1) Grace: On the basis of God’s justice and love, we first passionately win the hearts of the youth back to God; (2) Truth: We train them for involvement in the ministry, for leadership in the advancement of God’s Kingdom here on earth, and we nurture them so they develop Christ-like character.

The Youth: Foremost in our ministry are, particularly, the students. Our movement’s success starts when we see the youth become passionate agents for spiritual transformation. We are committed to guiding college students obtain knowledge with spiritual insight so they become leaders with godly values.

The Lay: Our greatest strength is our Lay Partners. They are adult Christians with veracious integrity. They are qualified individuals, well-trained in ministry leadership, coming from diverse sectors of our society. They are our resource pool that sustains the equilibrium between our delivery of our ministry services and our financial support base.

Excellence: A commitment to excellence permeates everything we do. We continually improve our processes and our relationship with ministry partners so we stay efficient, relevant and cost-effective, continually delivering optimum performance to excel in evangelism, discipleship and leadership training.

What makes PSALM a great investment in the Lord’s work:

PSALM workforce and staffers are dedicated, highly competent and motivated servant leaders who have been equipped with necessary skills in reaching the student world.

PSALM does not wish just to make converts that would occupy the vacant pews on Sundays. It intends to train leaders who will also equip others to be just like them. Our progressive and systematic leadership training track has been proven effective in raising thousands of leaders who are now in key positions in churches and other organizations.

Everything we do in PSALM is geared toward the fulfillment of the Great Commission. There is an unequivocal stand and strong bias on evangelism, discipleship and leadership building. Your giving will sustain the ministry and its staffers in doing the Great Commission. Your partnership will help keep their focus and pour out all energies in discipling hundreds and thousands students, professionals and leaders.

You will be in our ministry loop! A ministry update (newsletter) will be sent to you regularly which will help you know how your investment is making a difference in the lives of other people.

To God be the ever glory! Amen.
